5th Annual Mud 4 Blood Drive

Is in the bag . . . (Ba dum bum)

Saturday, May 10th, 2008 was a beautiful sunny day with just enough of a breeze to make it really nice in the shade. And of course the buses were well air conditioned.

Stacking them like cheerleadersThis event gets more fun, more exciting, and most importantly, more successful each and every year! And we can finally report that Mother Nature finally gave us a break. Those of you that have attended our past events, or have read about them remember that we've had every element of weather that can possibly hit North Georgia in the spring.

Thanks in large part to our wonderful sport, this year was wildly successful in that we had 146 donations at this year's event. Again, for the fifth year straight, we've surpassed the previous year. We have already started planning on how to continue this trend for the sixth annual event next spring.

Please remember that when you give blood, your single pint can help as many as three different people. Blood can be separated into its three main components, red blood cells, plasma, and platelets. So every time you give, you have the potential of saving three lives. With this event, thanks to those able to donate, we have the potential of helping as many as 438 people. Over the five years, we've collected more than 70 gallons of blood at these events to help those in need. I bet we all know someone that has needed blood in the past. When you give, remember that someone may very well be thanking you with their life. Many debts of gratitude are due. We can no longer put on this event by ourselves. Tony Eiermann is a great organizer. He wrangled together help from quite a few of our local clubs. Special thanks go out to Southern Jeeps for doing the cooking. And welcome to Georgia Rock Rods for joining our event for the first time.

For those that couldn't attend, here is what you missed ? Bass Pro Shops of Lawrenceville GA, for the second year in a row was willing to ?donate? use a of a large portion of their parking lot for us to hold our event. Hooter's of Lawrenceville GA brought the Hooters Truck. 4Wheel Parts always comes through with an incredible amount of prizes to help us draw the crowd. Our other big prize donator was Pit Bull Tires. We want to send out an extra special thank you for their huge amount of support. Please take a look at www.mud4blood.org to see the others that also helped us make this happen. We need each and every one of them, so please be generous and support our sponsors. Also take a look at the event through our pictures.

Additional special thanks go out to three of our members, Kerry VanderPool, Pat Johnson, and Patrick Bennett. Kerry organized a silent auction, and Pat & Patrick from Omix Ada had a scratch and dent sale with blemished items. The fund this year will go to a very important cause for all of us: Save Tellico. The Tellico OHV area in Murphy NC, is under attack by certain environmental groups that are attempting to get as many of our trail systems closed as possible. The United Four Wheel Drive Association has teamed up with the Blue Ribbon Coalition and they will also be working with the Southern Four Wheel Drive Association in an attempt to fend off these groups. It will take a LOT of money to be successful. Our event will add just over $2,700 to that legal fund.

The local clubs represented at this event were: Georgia Bounty Runners, Southern Jeeps, Georgia Rock Rods, Off Camber, and Soloros. Thank you to all who donated. We guarantee you will touch someone?s life with your gift.
